Rebecca had her senior session with me over this past month, I absolutely adored her session and the different styles she brought to the session. Rebecca brought multiple outfits including her dance outfit since she has been a dancer since 7th grade. She also wanted to do some portraits in front of her job A La Carte! I loved the blue table it added a pop of color with her all black outfit
For this senior model shoot I wanted to do something different. I have always loved the idea of the Great Gatsby. The gals and boys did an awesome job at portraying this theme for our group shoot. The day before the shoot I located this antique phone that was perfect for the session. In some of the photos you will see PJ tellig us “Hold up I’m on the phone” some you will see us laughing. It is always a lot of fun getting together with the team and creating something fun. This has been one of my favorite sessions with them.
I have been meaning to write this blog, however it just kept slipping my mind. Finally I have the time.
Recently I had the opportunity to photograph the perfect client, when I say the perfect client I don't mean perfect figure or face, I mean a client that understands why I am a women's portrait photographer, she understood the value of a photograph, she felt empowered and remembered different versions of herself. As women we sometimes work 5 times harder we can do what a man can ( dont worry this isnt a man versus woman blog LOL ) while we are busting our rumps to be mom, business women, and proving that we can do it all often times we as women are left on the back burner, we know how important it is to have photographs so we photograph our spouse, and children. However when was the last time you actually took a day to enjoy yourself? When was the last time you said, " I need to have photographs of myself for my children to remember what I looked like" we don't because we are too busy caring for everyone else that it just slips our mind and BAM here we are 20 years later with a snapchat filter selfie showing our older kids and grandchildren but no real portraits of ourselves. Meghan, she was a business woman, a glam at heart, a rocker, a wife, and a strong woman with an incredible story. Before she even finished her session I knew she was more than a client, she would become a friend. Being a photographer is not simply about snapping photos, it is about creating memories, helping you find yourself, you don't have to glam if you dont want to, you can be a rocker, tomboy, just be you, create memories along the way.
Meghan, I cannot express how much of an honor it was to photograph you, before our session I thought about going back to my day job (Emergency room Registered Nurse). After speaking with you and the way you spoke about how empowering the session was, how it reminded you of all the things you were it created a spark in me that wanted all of my clients to experience this. Thank you for being the perfect client, thank you for seeing the value in professional portraits.
Enjoy this awesome rocker mom portraits below!
Before my team graduates this year I wanted to gift them something special, a best friend shoot.
I do it because I want them to know the importance of photographs. During high school we all have that friend that no matter what we can call on. After high school we sometimes head in different directions due to school, jobs, families you know the adult stuff.
This was one of my ways of ensuring my team would have a photograph of their BFF in the years to come. In 20 years my girls will be close to 30.. Yes team 30! LOL They will look back at these photographs with their new family and even that same best friend and reminisce about how much fun they had during their senior year, they can tell their kids all about how they picked their outfits, how they couldn't walk on the gravel in heels, and why they wore flower crowns. My goal with each team is to create memories that will last a lifetime. I love catching their genuine laughs those to me are the best!
Here is a few snapshots
