Empowering Portraits for Breast Cancer Awareness | Hadonica’s Photography

At Hadonica’s Photography, we always aim to empower women from all walks of life. No matter where they came from or what they encountered, we want their stories to be celebrated and heard. It's Breast Cancer Awareness Month, and we all know someone diagnosed with breast cancer. Two of our clients, Carrie and Tawny, came to our studio as breast cancer survivors, each wanting to capture a new version of themselves. They demonstrate that women are beings of immense resilience and strength and that women, at our core, are warriors.

The Power of Visual Storytelling

Visual storytelling is a profound way to convey emotions and messages that go beyond words. When it comes to a complex topic such as breast cancer and everything that a person goes through, the power of these portraits can deliver a powerful impact of unveiling the stories within.

As Tawny shared with us, “I want to be photographed because I want to capture and show people the new me. I have changed a great deal over the past 3 years due to a life-threatening illness. I want to show the world that I am still here and God is a healer. I am determined and I am strong.”

You can see this in her photos in the way she exemplifies strength in the way her eyes still retain their illuminating sparkle and the way her smile never lost its glimmer. She carries her strength with pride and with confidence. She wants to show the world that she has weathered her share of storms and come out the other side with her strength, faith, and love.

Honoring Your Transformation

At the heart of these special photoshoots, we are motivated to honor those who have battled the tribulations of breast cancer—both fighters and survivors. The portraits that we capture exist as tributes to these amazing women’s unyielding spirits. It is nothing short of a privilege for us to work with such people and provide them with images that they can feel good about for years to come. Healing is not a linear journey, whether physically or emotionally. That is why these photos double as a source of empowerment. They are visual evidence that facing adversity does not always mean that it is the end. You are an agent of change and transformation.

Raising Awareness

We wholeheartedly support the Breast Cancer Awareness cause and feel that it should not be contained to just one month. We understand it can be a daunting task to know where to start when it comes to breast cancer examinations and where to get information, so we’re here to help!

  1. Get screened regularly.

  2. Know your family history of breast cancer and make sure you talk to your doctor about it if there's a history of breast cancer in your family (you can even print out this handy document if you need help remembering what questions to ask).

  3. Don't smoke! Smoking doubles your risk of developing breast cancer.

Celebrating Resilience

Having portraits of ourselves is like capturing our personal stories down to document. We get to relive those precious memories and fill ourselves with hope and inspiration again. What makes them truly special is their ability to transcend boundaries, touching lives across the globe. This is why we found them to be a powerful tool for raising Breast Cancer awareness, a testament to the strength of community and the celebration of these remarkable women.
